This character is based on the Sinai Bedouin and comes from a research-driven process focused on traditional clothing, embroidery, and jewelry. Instead of treating these elements as historical or static, I reworked them into a contemporary context by blending them with everyday clothing.
The project pushes against how Bedouins are often portrayed as archaic or culturally stagnant and instead places the character in a modern setting using a globally recognizable animation style. By doing this, I’m exploring how regional identities can exist within “universal” visual languages without being simplified or erased.
